En un operativo que según afirmaron llevó más de un año de preparación, tropas especiales del ejército colombiano liberaron a la ex candidata presidencial Ingrid Betancourt ya otros 14 prisioneros que estaban en cautiverio de la guerrilla FARC desde hacía años. Los soldados colombianos se infiltraron en la guerrilla y lograron llevarse a los rehenes y además a tres guerrilleros en helicóptero, sin que se hubiera disparado un solo tiro. Las FARC por la liberación de 39 prisioneros pedían al gobierno de Colombia 500 convictos. Ingrid Betancourt fue capturada hace 6 años mientras realizaba una gira en su campaña electoral. US media and movies always portrait Colombia in the worst way.
